Gurudwara Shri Kushatniwaran Sahib, Darroli is situated in Village Darroli (Bhatpur) Tehsil Anandpur Sahib, Distt Ropar.
This sacred site is located in the village of Dhadoli Bhatpur, Tehsil Anandpur Sahib, District Ropar. This place has been blessed by the presence of the sixth Guru, SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI. After wars and battles, GURU SAHIB chose this region for permanent settlement and to propagate Gurmat (the Guru's teachings).
On 13th Maghar 1673 Bikrami, GURU SAHIB purchased a large tract of land from Raja Tara Chand of Kehloor. On 13th Harh 1674, he established Mohri and instructed Baba Gurditta Ji to settle in Kiratpur Sahib. While spreading the Guru’s teachings in the Doaba region, GURU SAHIB came to this area. The place was dense with forests, filled with wild animals, but a few families lived on a nearby hill and served GURU SAHIB with great devotion. GURU SAHIB regularly engaged the Sangat (congregation) in Naam Kirtan (devotional singing) and spiritual teachings for many days.
Before departing from this place, GURU SAHIB asked the Sangat if they had any wishes as a token of appreciation for their service to the Guru's house. Bhai Bharta Ji, who had been suffering from leprosy, humbly requested that his family's curse of leprosy be removed. GURU SAHIB blessed him, saying that by the grace of Guru Nanak Ji, their affliction was healed, but warned them to refrain from consuming meat and fish, as it could cause the illness to return. After this, Bhai Bharta Ji was cured, and the place came to be known as "Kusht Nivaran" (leprosy cure). Even today, descendants of Bhai Bharta Ji abstain from eating meat or fish to avoid the resurgence of the disease.
