GURUDWARA SHRI CHADAR SAHIB is situated in Muktampur, Old Distt City of Bharuch, Gujarat. SHRI GURU NANAK DEV JI came here while travelling through Rajasthan and Gujarat. When GURU SAHIB came here, Bharuch was under Mughal Empire and a Nawab rulled here. On the Bank of river Narmada here, lived Narbada Sadhus. Who used to do magic tricks for their lively hood. Guru Sahib came here and taught them to live a true life and connect with God. Earlier, Rishi Birgu also lived here. Bharuch is named after the city Nawab had ordered not to take boat in the river at night time. GURU SAHIB asked the sailor (Malah) to take him to other side of river, But he refused. GURU SAHIB asked Bhai Mardana Ji to spread the Chadar (Bed Sheet) and crossed the river by sitting on it.
