GURUDWARA BHAI RUP CHAND JI SAHIB is situated in Village Bhai Rupa Distt Bathinda. Bhai Sadhu ji and his son Bhai Rup Chand ji were great disciple of SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI. Bhai Rupa and Sadhu Ji went to fields to harvest some crops. They took goat Skin water container. It was hanged on branch of tree. It was quite a hot day. After working for some time when they felt thirsty, they came to drink water and felt that water too cold. Moved with devotion, they offered the water to SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI in their thoughts. That first GURU SAHIB should drink then only they will drink it. And again they started working, time passed and they fell unconsciously. GURU SAHIB was at Bhai Ki Daroli. When GURU SAHIB came to know about his sikhs. He started from there riding his horse reached here covering the distance of 30 miles. When GURU SAHIB reached there he called them if some one could water he (GURU SAHIB) was feeling thirsty. When Bhai Rup chand ji saw above GURU SAHIB standing in fron of them. He called his father and both of them fell on the feets of GURU SAHIB. GURU SAHIB himself drank water and also offred them water and told them leave this job. You need to meditate now. GURU SAHIB gave them sword and told them to spread the message of Sikhism. Bhai Sadhu Ji told that people of there village feel jealous of them. GURU SAHIB told them leave that place and suggested them a new place. Start your own Village. People will follow you. Name it as Bhai Rupe Ka. GURU SAHIB stayed there for a night. GURU SAHIB laid foundation of this village by installing wooden pillar.(Which still exist here.) GURU SAHIB himself stayed for 6 months and 9 Days at this place and help people settle here. Later GURU SAHIB came here along with army. Bhai Rup Chand ji keep spreading message of gurbani. His two sons Bhai Dharam ji and Bhai Param ji also became SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI devotees. They stayed with SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI till hazoor sahib. Bhai Dharam Singh gave news of GURU SAHIB's Jyoti Jot. When Bhai Rup Chand ji came to know about this he also left for heavenly abode. The place where Bhai Rup Chand Ji left his body is Bhai Ki Samadh.
Rath Sahib(a Chariot) preserved here was offered by Sangat of Kashmir to SHRI GURU RAM DAS JI. later SHRI GURU RAM DAS SAHIB JI, SHRI GURU ARJAN DEV SAHIB JI, Mata Ganga Ji, SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI, AND SHRI GURU HARRAI SAHIB JI used this Rath Sahib. Mata Ji went to seek blessings of a son from Baba Buddha Ji on this rath sahib.
Bhai Ram Rai Ji on directions of SHRI GURU HARRAI SAHIB JI went to delhi to meet Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb on this Rath Sahib. But he disobeyed GURU SAHIB's order and distorted Gurbani. When GURU SAHIB came to know this, He sent message to Ram Rai Ji and asked him not to show his face in life. Bhai Ram Rai Ji went to Dehradun and stayed there for his rest of life. This rath remained with him till end of life. Later his Wife Mata Punjab Kaur Ji spread news that whoso ever can take this Rath sahib without Horse or Ox can take this Rath. Bhai Dharam Singh Ji brought this rath from Dehradun by himself pulling it.
