Gurudwara Shri Paonta Sahib, Paonta Sahib

GURUDWARA SHRI PAONTA SAHIB is situated in Paonta Sahib city, distt Sirmour. This place is located on the banks of river Yamuna. Nahan State At that time the territory of Raja Medani Prakash's kingdom was captured by Raja Fateh Prakash of Tehri Garhwal. Raja Medani Prakash of Nahan requested his Raj Guru Kalpi Rishi for his help. Rishi told the king that the tenth Guru, SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI, was seated on the throne of SHRI GURU NANAK DEV JI. Go to them and ask for help, I too will visit him in the last days of my life. Obeying the Rishi Ji, Raja Medani Prakash sent his Wazir to Anandpur Sahib. On Rajas invitation SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI came to Nahan. After staying at Nahan for sometime GURU SAHIB came here after stopping for some time.

GURU SAHIB stayed here for 4.5 years, While living here, GURU SAHIB used to hunt and train the soldiers. From here GURU SAHIB sent five Sikhs to Banaras (Varanasi) to learn Sanskrit. Now they are called Nirmala Sikhs. Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji was born at this holy place to Mata Sundari Ji and SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI . While staying here, GURU SAHIB went to Dehradun and punished Masanda who had burnt Baba Ram Rai Ji alive. GURU SAHIB also went to Kalsi village and met Kalpi Rishi and brought him here in a palanquin. Here Rishi Ji passed away, GURU SAHIB himself performed his rites and made a platform in the memorial. During his last stay here, GURU SAHIB fought the first battle of his life which is known in history as the battle of Bhangani. This war was fought against the hill chiefs in which Peer Budhu Shah Ji supported GURU SAHIB

Gurudwara Shri Kavi Darbar Sahib : - At this place, under the patronage of Dashmesh Pita SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI , there used to be a Darbar of 52 eminent poets of India. GURU SAHIB Ji composed many banis (Jap Sahib, Savya, Akal Ustati and Chandi Di War etc.) here. The pens with which GURU SAHIB composed the banis are still preserved in Darbar Sahib. Translations of ancient literature and other writings were also done here Here GURU SAHIB disgraced Dhanna Singh Ghahi by interpreting the poem of Chandan Kavi and gave him a great reward for his high quality poetry. Here the poet worships Darbar every full moon. GURU SAHIB, at the request of the poets, asked Yamuna to pass calmly. The Yamuna continues to follow the Hukam of GURU SAHIB till date.
