Gurdwara Janam Asthan Shaheed Baba Akali Phula Singh Ji
Shaheed Akali Phula Singh Ji was born on January 14, 1761, in the village of Dehlan, District Sangrur, to Sardar Ishar Singh Ji and Mata Har Kaur Ji. His childhood was filled with hardships. During his early years, both his mother and father passed away. Akali Ji was raised by the prominent warrior of the Shaheed Misl, Baba Narain Singh Ji.
Under Baba Narain Singh Ji’s guidance, Phula Singh Ji mastered the art of warfare and weaponry (shastar vidya). After gaining expertise, Akali Ji participated in many significant battles under the Sikh rule. These included the battles of Multan, Kasur, Peshawar, and Nowshera.
The Battle of Nowshera was the final battle of his life, in which he achieved victory despite being heavily outnumbered, leading a small group of warriors against thousands of enemies. In this battle, on March 14, 1823, Baba Ji attained martyrdom.
