Gurdwara Janam Asthan Shaheed Bhai Sukha Singh Ji, Mari Kamboke

Gurdwara Shaheed Bhai Sukha Singh Ji, Mari Kamboke

This sacred place is located in village Mari Kamboke, Tehsil Bhikhiwind, District Tarn Taran. Bhai Sukha Singh Ji was born in this village in 1760 AD to Bhai Laddha Singh Ji and Mata Har Kaur Ji. At the age of 10, he took Amrit from Sri Akal Takht Sahib. At that time, Zakariya Khan was ruling in Lahore. While serving the cause of righteousness, Bhai Sukha Singh Ji joined the jatha of Baba Budha Singh Ji in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

At that time, Massa Ranghar had taken over Sri Darbar Sahib and was having dancers perform there. Bhai Balaka Singh Ji, who had gone to Amritsar for a holy bath, witnessed this and reported it to Baba Budha Singh Ji. He also told him that Massa Ranghar had even filled the holy sarovar with mud. With Baba Budha Ji's permission, Bhai Sukha Singh Ji and Bhai Mehtab Singh Ji of Mirankot set out toward Amritsar.

On the way, they collected broken earthen pots (Thikriaan) near village Sabhraon and filled them in a sack. Disguised as revenue collectors, they reached Sri Darbar Sahib on the pretext of delivering goods. There, they beheaded Massa Ranghar and quickly left for Bikaner. On the way, they stayed in Hanumangarh and presented the severed head to Baba Budha Singh Ji, who hung it on a jand (desert tree). That place is now known as Budha Johar Sahib.
